葛洛丽娅·艾丝特凡于1957年生于古巴哈瓦那，幼年全家移民美国，定居在迈阿密。1974年，Estefan在“迈阿密拉丁少年”乐队演出时受邀演唱了一曲，大受赏识，就加入了乐队。以Estefan为主唱的“迈阿密音响机器”乐队建成了。1976年，乐队推出了首张《Miami Sou-nd Machine》，全部是创作歌曲，用英语和西班牙语演唱。1978年，又出版了着重于桑巴节奏的专辑《Rio》，这使Miami Sound Machine 名声日隆，逐渐巩固了在拉美乐坛上的地位。
　　1978年，坠入爱河已达两年的Gloria和Emilio携手走过结婚红毯。
　　1979年到1983年间，Miami Sound Machine为CBS唱片灌录了五张西班牙语专辑。
　　1985年，Miami Sound Machine在日本第十五届东京音乐大赛中赢得大奖。
　　1989年，Gloria Estefan赢得了第16届全美音乐奖的最受欢迎流行/摇滚团体奖项，接下来推出的抒情曲[Here We Are]在美得到了第六名，之前在美同获第六名的另一首情歌[Can’t Stay Away From You]此时在英国得到了第七名，而一张收录过去畅销金曲，只在英国一地发行的精选专辑[Anything For You]更在全英专辑榜上称雄，荣获冠军。
　　1989年7月时，乐团的名字再次更动，这次更简单地缩减为 Gloria Estefan。
　　1990年3月20日，Gloria和其余乐团成员以及夫婿Emilio、儿子Nayib 于前往纽约演唱会途中，在大雪纷飞的高速公路上，整批人马所搭的巴士遭一辆拖车冲撞，结果造成Emilio手部受伤，Nayib肩部骨折，而Gloria 伤害则最为严重，造成脊椎骨错位。经过车祸发生地附近社区医院的急救之后，Gloria被送上了飞机，转往迈哈顿一间较大的医院，接受了四小时的手术结合治疗。Gloria历经一年的复健治疗，其间经常在没有上麻药的情况下进行种种伴随着剧烈疼痛的矫治工作，终于Gloria凭着自己的毅力，从可能全身瘫痪的危险边缘重新站了起来。
